Galatea: A Girl's Candy Store

Galatea has fostered a lingerie community in North Hoboken over the last decade

“Galatea is a girl’s candy store without the calories, we sell everything but shoes!” says Gilly Hailparn, co-owner of the Hoboken boutique. Located in uptown Hoboken, New Jersey, Galatea has become a beloved community hub, known for its curated selection of fine lingerie, unique gifts, and the camaraderie shared between customers and owners Gilly and Diane.

Step inside and you’ll be met with delicious scents, pops of color, and great customer service. Galatea proudly sources from the best in business and happens to be the only shop in the area that sells hosiery. Giving a nod to what every lingerie shop owner knows all too well, Gilly brings up the issue of ill-fitting bras and Galatea’s commitment to ensuring no customer leaves without something amazing. She proudly shares her expertise in helping clients find the perfect fit, casually name-dropping a variety of brands — many of which just so happen to be featured on the Curve show floor wink wink.

“While there is no one style since every woman is different, they all want a fabulous basic tee shirt bra in nude and black, whether it's Natori “feathers”, the On Gossamer “bump up”, or one of the incredible Wacoal bras that work for our bigger busted women.” Gilly goes on to highlight many of our favorite veteran Curve brands that her store proudly carries. “We carry both basics and fashion from our vendors so whether its an exquisite lace bra from Huit, Skarlett Blue, or Montelle, a colorful bralette from Nette Rose, Only Hearts, or Hanky Panky, we make sure it fits them properly so they leave the store looking and feeling beautiful.”

Gilly closes by honoring the store’s customers, trusted vendors, and the world around her — all sources of inspiration. Dedicated to her community and the customer experience, she leaves us with one final thought that perfectly captures her philosophy: “We touch on trend but aren’t married to it, because we want women to have pieces that will always look good, no matter what the Internet tells them to wear.”
